PACKING

The gallery below shows a few recent examples of objects that have been packed for various resons, for storage, freezing or transport.

A wooden statue of a unicorn in a fragile condition with multiple loose pieces. The object was packed for long term storage and a wooden grate was made to offer the object enough support and to be able to store all of the loose parts in the same container.

Space was left inside the crate for a storage box containing loose parts from the object.

The container was left open at the top and from one side to reduce the weight as well as make the unpacking and packing of the object easier. The crate was covered with Tyvek to protect the object from dust.

Building a quarantine tent for a piece of furniture containing pesticides.

The piece of furniture was placed inside a plastic tent to stop it from off gassing and potentially harming other objects in the storage.

The object was sealed inside the tent and a filter added to allow air exchange.

A support needed to be made for wooden panels that were waiting for conservation.

Because of the fragile condition of the objects, all of the wooden parts that came into contact with them had to be padded with Ethafoam and covered with Tyvek to reduce the risk of damage.

The objects were in separate conpartments to stop them from leaning against each other.
